The Blast will use Friday night’s game against the Whitby Dunlops as an opportunity to pay tribute to the Red Sox success this past season. Much like the rich history of Senior Hockey, the Brantford Red Sox is steeped in tradition dating back to its beginnings in the Canadian Baseball League which was formed in 1911. The Brantford Red Sox joined the ranks of the Intercounty Baseball League in 1934. From 1946 to the present, the Brantford Red Sox have been Intercounty Major Baseball League Pennant Winners 10 times, with the most recent being this past summer.

The Dunlops’ current coach is serving a two game suspension which has opened the door for former NHLer and team president, Steve Cardwell, to be behind the bench. Cardwell, who recently retired from Labatts, played hockey for the Generals before embarking on a professional career that saw him play with the Pittsburg Penguins and the Hershey Bears.
