What is the Allan Cup ?

The Allan Cup is Hockey Canada's Canadian Senior "AAA" Championships.
2008 will be the 100th Anniversary of this prestigious championship.
The 2008 Allan Cup championship will take place at the Brantford Civic Centre from April 14 - 19, 2008.
There are 31 teams across Canada located in Ontario, British Columbia, Saskatchewar, Manitoba, Quebec and Atlantic Canada.
Senior "AAA" hockey is unique because it involves former professional hockey players, University/College students and men working in their community, from age 21 and up.
The final game of the tournament will be televised across Canada on TSN.

The School Program

The Allan Cup includes a school program that provides a unique opportunity for students to participate in this prestigious Canada wide hockey championship.
Our objective is to show community spirit in welcoming Canada to the region and to celebrate the importance of education and physical activity/sport.
We believe that there is a curriculum connection to participating in this event as described below.
Your school is invited to attend one of three (3) games; April 14th, 15th or 16th, 2008. Game times will be 1:00pm to 3:00pm.

Prior to the event, your school can be assigned to one of the divisions of Senior hockey across Canada. Students can then study the geography and history of this area and the teams in this Division. Students can then attend games of their representative team as a cheering section. Banners and signs can be created by students during the appropriate classes.
We can arrange visits to schools by the team from the Division assigned to your school to talk to students about the importance of education, physical activity and participating in sport activity. Your school choir, band or vocalists can provide pre-game entertainment and/or perform the National Anthem.

We will provide:

Free admission to your game.
A memento for each student emblematic of the 100th Anniversary of the Allan Cup.
We will organize necessary on site logistics at the Brantford Civic Centre to ensure schools will be met and taken to assigned seating.

your resposibility will be:

Register your school by February 29, 2008. (see registration form below)
Arrange school bus transportation.
Provide adult supervision in a ratio of no less than 20 to 1.
To be reponsible for students at game.
Ensure that students are looked after when they return to schools after games. It's anticipated that students will return to schools after 3:00pm.
